According to media sources, Aden Prosecutor General Judge Qaher Mustafa ordered the Shabwa Governorate Appeal Prosecutor’s Office to urgently investigate the extrajudicial killing incident that recently shook public opinion.
The sources explained that these directives came after the broadcast on social networks of video recordings showing the execution of an extrajudicial death sentence against a person by armed men from the Lasoud tribe in the Habban district of Shabwa, against the citizen Amin Bahaj, accused of the murder of Basil Al-Marwah, and without any due legal process or official investigation by the competent authorities.
The sources added that the Shabwa Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated legal steps, in coordination with the governorate and security services, to collect evidence, hear witness statements and determine the legal responsibilities of all those involved in the commission of this crime outside the framework of state institutions.
This incident is part of a series of similar incidents witnessed in the governorate in recent months, which have raised questions about the spread of revenge practices and the customary execution of sentences, in light of popular and official calls for strengthening the role of state institutions in maintaining security and achieving justice.
